Plans change....

OK... I had high hopes of painting this past weekend, but when we woke up on Saturday morning it was COLD, too cold to paint...so we decided to have a hanging party...like I have shamefully said before we have lived in this house since Valentines Day and have not hung up ANYTHING, so we decided ( and by we I mean ME) that it was time.... my husband was suddenly available because Miss. M decided to go to the graduation at her college, so he said he was all mine for the day... we actually hung things in the hallway bath and our bedroom, but I forgot to take those pictures...
My old house had a pretty red color on the walls in my living room, but this house is smaller and we wanted to make it feel as big and open as possible, so we vaulted the living room ceiling, added 4 can lights, arched the entrance into the kitchen / eating area, and painted it all a nice shade of Sailcloth (light creamy tan) trimmed with Mayonnaise (a very pretty cream).... well that being said things just look different on these walls, so we hung what I was comfortable with committing too for the time being, and have decided to be patient and try to find that special something that will make the walls just POP!!! But even though it is not perfect, it makes me really happy to have as much done as we do...

this is the area over the couch, my son just HAD to get in all the pics...

this is my wonderful husband, Mr. D, and he is moving the couch to get the ladder behind it, and I know it is hard to believe, but there was DIRT behind my couch.... so I enlisted a little help with the cleaning....at first she did not want to help until she saw I was taking pictures, then she was all about it...

I could only decide on one thing that I liked in this space, so that is what we went with.... it looks better now then it did with being a big blank space, I just need 2 nice sized pics under it it....

this is that area by the front door....before....

and after.... this is my favorite painting it is called "The Kiss" bu Gustav Klimt and it just makes me happy looking at it...we had added the floral arrangement and stacked on the books for height, ignore all the other STUFF that I should have moved before I took the pic, but I was too lazy...

this is the wall on the other side of the front door by the entertainment center and I forgot to take a pic of before, but here is the after....

my mom found these wooden things at Goodwill for $2 each and I painted them cream like 3 years ago, they were in my old kitchen, but I liked them here, this is such a tight space, but it needed something... and here is the top of the entertainment center....

Now, we move into the kitchen, more specifically the desk area, note the junk on top of the desk, it is just a catch all for crap...sorry, but it is.... well I wanted it to really stand out because you can see it when you come in the front door...so here is the before...

and here is the after....

Neither one of my kids would move this morning as I took my pictures, so here it is...I got both of these shelves at Hobby Lobby for 50% off, already had all the other stuff, so I let my talented hubby hang these floating shelves and then I added the rest...originally we were going to hang these shelves "normal", but then Mr.D suggested that we try it off angled a little, and I liked it...

Do you like my light fixture with no covers for the light...I found this light at a Habitat for Humanity Resale store for $8, just knowing that I would use it someday, well now I can't find any covers or globes that I like that will fit in it, so we get to look at lovely bare naked light bulbs, oh well, we can't have it all....
